Happy.

Everyone give a shout-out to The Newest Industry, a U.K. record label which has given me permission to use any song from their site in my show!

Here's an insight into the world of my podcasting technique: I recorded show #5 today because I absolutely couldn't wait any more. I had the whole show planned out by Monday, the wait was killing me. I'm still tweaking the sound, so it won't be up 'till Friday at the very earliest.

However, in show #5 I mention the fact that I haven't gotten any feedback from people who don't know me personally, J & J excluded. An hour after I finished recording the show, I got an email from a guy who heard about the show from Julien, downloaded all four episodes, and loved it. He gave me helpful advice on what format to use for the show ("whatever you want it to be on the day you record"), and I'm very grateful.

So although I'm not gonna go back and edit the show, this post goes out to Dave Lamb from Greenville, SC.

You rule.

I'm totally jazzing on happy right now. Here's why!

Well, that AND Julien's extensive plug on In Over Your Head, spanning two episodes and including an audio comment of mine.

Oh yeah... AND Jason's airtime for my audio comment on Insomnia Radio.

And finally, Jason's wonderful audio comment (which will definetly be played on the next show) is making me jazz on happy.

I know all this "thanking everyone all the time" routine is gonna get old quick, but I'm SO overwhelmingly grateful to the big J & J.

Who the fuck needs drugs when you've got this kind of happy?

Well, just to throw you guys off, I did an unprofessional music-based show with interviews and political rants. Hope you enjoy it as much as the last show.

I didn't stress the importance of sending me feedback in this show, but feedback for this episode is more important than it was in previous shows because it is a fundamentally different style than previous shows. So tell me if you like Brian, tell me if you don't like Brian, and especially tell me if you like the show better with one or two people.

I found one little technical problem in this show. I'm recording with SoundFlower into GarageBand, and it seems to be catching only the left audio of songs. This wreaks havok on songs like "A Line In The Sand" by Q and not U that rely heavily on crisscrossing stereo harmonies. So if you could help me figure out what the problem is, that'd be great.

Yea, I know, this is a couple days early. When I looked at my 250 megs of space, I realized that it's enough to do five shows a month, so here ya go.

This one's a lot talkier. I had a lot on my mind. Show #4 will mark the show's permanent transition into a more music-oriented area.

Anyway.

The second episode is up, and as promised, it's better.

Here's a summary:

- Ben Walker is closely related to Jesus

- So is Bryan Gahagan

- Local music still rules.

I'm in the process of recording. Show #2 should be up by Monday.

In this post I figured I'd post some pictures of myself. It's good to have a face to paste onto a voice in a show.

Here ya go:

I believe those pics give you a good idea of what I'm like most of the time.

The song I was rockin' to in the pics was "Black Plastic Bags" by Q and not U. And it was good.

I'm sure you were all completely mystified by the SPINNING BELT BUCKLE comment in the first episode. Unless you're as freakishly into DDR as Kel. Just to shed a little light on the subject, check these out:

DDR Vid 1

DDR Vid 2

If you don't want to sit through the DDRing, skip to the end of those videos. The stupid comments they make whilst celebrating are what the reference was to.

I think the fact that me and Kel enjoyed that heartily is a tribute to our geekery. And sleep deprivation.

First, you should just know, this is not my regular blog. If you really want to hear random tidbits about my life, read my livejournal. I don't see why you would want to, but if you're a read-blogs-of-people-you-don't-know kinda dude, that's the link. This blog is only for production notes and show-related news.

This is my first cast, and it's guest-co-hosted by Kel Gahagan. If you like him and want him on the show again, tell me. If you think he was awful, tell me and I won't bring him back. This early in the show, I'm relying entirely on feedback to tell if something's good or not. So post lots of comments here, or email me if you feel with it. All show-related email should have TNP in the subject line.

In case you don't want to actually listen to this show, or want to know what it's about, here's a summary:

-Nebraska sucks

-I'm way too young to do a podcast

-Video games are fun

-It's boring to listen to people talk about shit you don't care about.

-Speech meets are REALLY boring

-So are show stories

-Local music rules

If you don't like the talking, listen to the music. If you don't like the music, listen to the talking. If you don't like either, fuck off. But only after sending me emails and leaving me comments about how I can make the show better.
